Japanese label Sacai revealed their upcoming collaboration with Nikelab during Paris Fashion Week. Chitose Abe’s label has had a longstanding relationship with Nike, and this newest creation takes layering to the next level. The bulky, cut-and-sew line of shoes reminds of Virgil Abloh’s highly sought after ‘Ten Nike Icons’ series and the current market obsession with chunky ‘dad shoes’. The Sacai line also features some more eye-popping color-mashups, daring onlookers to look away.
Sacai impressed Paris Fashion week attendees with layered variations of several classic Swoosh silhouettes. The runner is a combination of the Nike Waffle and Nike LDV. The hightop is a combination of elements from the Blazer Mid and Dunk High. Both have overlapping branding and midsole tooling. The shoes are rumored to release for $300 in January 2019.
