Jordan Brand Keeps the fire coming with the Air Jordan 4 “Fire REd” OG

QUICK TAKE:

Jordan Brand won’t stop with the FIRE (red) drops this year. In March, as our world was flipped upside down by COVID, JB release the Air Jordan 5 ‘Fire Red’ . Now, they bestow upon us the OG version of the Air Jordan 4 “Fire Red”, an equally revered model that is now incredibly 31 years old. Nike initially did a ‘Shock Drop’ of the AJ4 “Fire Red” at the end of October, but the rest of the release now hits retailers and the SNKRS app on 11/28.

DESIGN:

Simplicity is the key here. The sneaker features a base of white tumbled leather, with black and fire red accenting the unique features of the model. A mixture of the two show off the midfoot mesh webbing, iconic eyelets, and the midsole that has been utilized on countless models since the AJ4. For the first time since ’89, Nike blesses us with the “Nike Air” branding on the heel, along with a Nike Air hangtag and original packaging.

ANALYSIS:

It’s nice when Jordan Brand can just stay out of its own way. The Air Jordan 4’s iconic silhouette is self-explanatory, and this colorway gives a pure look at a model that has survived the test of time- influencing models from the Swoosh and its competitors. Like all JB models, the AJ4 has seen its share of terrible colorways and mutations, and OG sneakerheads and tastemakers alike will be glad to see its construction unhindered this time around.

RELEASE INFORMATION:

The Air Jordan 4 OG “Fire Red” will be available on 11/28 at 10:00am via the Nike SNKRS mobile phone application and through various major retailers.
