The Off-White x Nike Dunk Low “Pine Green” is the most recent Nike model to receive the Virgil Abloh redesign experience. Abloh’s hands have already touched a variety of the Swoosh’s models, but the designer returns to timeless classics by taking on the Nike Dunk Low.
Abloh gives the Nike Dunk Low a make-over similar to his work on the Nike Kiger and Nike Waffle Racer, adding an extra set of orange lacing that attaches to the shoe at various points on the upper. The Louis Vuitton head keeps the rest of the model fairly simple, employing rich green colorblocking on the upper and sole, and keeping a classic thin tongue, with a classic Nike logo that accents the extra lacing. An orange tab emerges from the lateral Swoosh, with signature, informative Abloh-typeface on the medial portion of the shoe.
While both the Kiger and Waffle Racer also employed the extra laces motif that is seen on this model, the Nike SB dunk’s simplicity makes this variation hard to compete with. The saturated forest green works well with the orange, and frankly, the useless rubber spikes on the sole are not missed.
