UK-based retailer END has been releasing strong collaborative projects for the last few years, specifically focusing on ongoing work with brands like New Balance. After a year of multiple co-signed releases, including the recent NB878 “Grey Gull”, they will finish out 2020 with the New Balance 997 “Persian Rug” model.
The lifestyle silhouette gets its “Persian Rug” name because it draws heavy inspiration from Iranian interior decorating styles. The upper uses luxurious red, navy, and beige colors found in Iranian households on a mix of high-end suede, leather and mesh. Matching floral patterns are printed on the insoles to further express the carpet motif apparent on the upper. “END” branding is also printed atop the insoles as a nod to its moniker, and completed down below with two-tone tread. Finally an END x New Balance box with the same theme wraps up the whole project.
END.’s final 2019 collaboration with New Balance is a great finishing piece for the two brands. The simple inspiration is effectively executed in a very wearable silhouette. Is this the best project the two brands have worked on in 2019, or was another pairing better?
This special pair of sneakers will be released by End. via raffle on December 13th for $225.
