QUICK TAKE:
Amsterdam-based skateshop Ben-G’s officially announced the release of its inaugural project with Nike SB, with a slated release on-location for September 28th. The shop joins other EU-based skate brands like Polar and Soulland in putting its own spin on the iconic Nike SB Dunk low silhouette.
DESIGN:
Ben G’s close out the summer with a clean colorway that features a white leather upper with green detailing used for the inner liner. Like Soulland, the Holland-based skate shop chose to remove the midfoot Swoosh in favor of a unique application of debossed mini Swooshes to cover the entire upper. Other unique details include ‘Ben G’ embroidered on the heel, rather than the traditional ‘Nike’, and red, green, and black tongue badge and lace tips. The pair is finished off with a yellowed sail midsole.
ANALYSIS:
The only negative takeaway with this new Nike SB collaboration is how late in the summer it comes. Nothing says summer like a pair of clean whites, and it seems like a miss that Ben G’s and Nike SB waited until the beginning of Fall to drop their collaboration. Otherwise, white leather is timeless, and the saturation of debossed Nike Swooshes makes this project stick out among the many collaborations over the years.
