Bangkok-based Carnival used Muay Thai, Thailand’s legendary sport, as its focal inspiration for its debuting collaboration with Japan’s very own ASICS. The ‘spirit of the fighter’ is expressed through the bold colorway, which represents a combination of cultural image and style.
The shoe features premium materials and an asymmetric color design to represent the fiery colors of Muay Thai. Red and blue hits alternate from the left to right shoe, with gold accents tying the primarily off-white base together, also alluding to gold medals won by victorious Muay Thai fighters. The shoe featres “MUAY” and “THAI” on both heels.
I am always a sucker for red/white/blue colorways, especially with gold accents. Although most people may not know much about the sport of Muay Thai, this clean colorway will still appeal to many. The Gel-DS model also features a great combination of retro aesthetics with modern comfort. It’s unfortunate that this was not a wider release.
Grab a look at the pair right below and find it set to release at the Asian boutique on July 27th for $120. Cop on sites like Farfetch now.
