adidas Officially Unveils the Ultraboost 19

adidas has officially revealed the UltraBOOST 19, the newest iteration in the now iconic line of BOOST-soled running footwear. UltraBOOST has been everywhere in 2018, but adidas wanted to continue to push the envelope with their iconic BOOST technology. The first colorway, a “Laser Red” will release on December 15th for $180. Overall, this shoe serves as an aesthetically pleasing modification on the silhouette, which had not seen any change since 2015.

This time around, the company focused on function, working with thousands of runners around the globe to optimize the key features of the shoe- and add modifications to take performance to a new level. The introduction of Nike React had led some to question the established BOOST tech, and adidas reacted to this by deconstructing and reconstructing the UltraBOOST 19 with only 17 key pieces and four new components: Optimized BOOST, Torsion Spring, Primeknit 360, and 3D Heel Frame. Check out detailed images of these features below.

  • Optimized BOOST & Torsion Spring –with 20% more BOOST in the midsole compared to the first-generation adidas Ultraboost, this updated technology brings even more energy return. A lightweight Torsion Spring construction for enhanced support on landing and a snappy transition to propel runners forward- the shoe also features a more rugged Continental rubber tread than ever before.
  • Primeknit 360 & Mono Mesh Midfoot Saddle– adidas used extremely lightweight, adaptable Primeknit 360 as the based of the shoe. The UltraBOOST 19 also abandons the hard plastic midfoot saddle for a lightweight mesh saddle. the reinforced Primeknit, saddle, and laces should provide runners with a tight fit- and no plastic components digging into their feet.
  • Updated 3D Heel Frame –a stripped-back design cradles the heel, bringing the perfect mix of adaptability and support. Prior models featured a chunkier heel cradle, which was stripped back to leave only the necessary support.
