Commonwealth has collaborated with adidas Consortium to bring us a “coastal living”-inspired ZX 500 model that has been mounted on their BOOST midsole. The modernized silhouette has appeared in multiple colorways, but this is the first time it has been used in a collaborative project.
Commonwealth’s focus on this collaboration is clear, literally. The shoe is primarily white, utilizing a translucent monofilament mesh as a light, clean base. Structure is added by white synthetic suede toe box and TPU-molded overlays on the heel. Color and texture are provided by the next translucent layer of the shoe, which features an aquatic-inspired Three stripe stitching pattern and a bright orange hit on the heel tab, both of which are embroidered. All of this sits on a translucent sole and BOOST midsole base. Finally, the shoe is detailed with a Commonwealth x adidas Consortium dual tagging on the tongues, and purple Commonwealth tag on the outside of the heel.
Commonwealth chose the ‘coastal living’ motif because of the locations of its stores: Virginia Beach, Los Angeles, and the Philippines. The above video places the collaboration in their natural habitat. Although though December isn’t the best time to be on the beach, the Commonwealth x adidas consortium ZX 500 RM will release on December 8 (USA only) and then on December 15 for a wider global release at Consortium account retailers. Will you be copping this new collaboration?
