QUICK TAKE:
New York City’s legendary Museum of Modern Art is currently undergoing renovations, to reopen later in October. To mark the occasion, Vans teamed up with MoMa to create a vibrantly colored patchwork-style Vans Era.
DESIGN:
The patchwork theme has been repeated in a variety of different Vans colorways, and this collaboration with the MoMa sees another rendition. This time in an asymmetric design featuring bright oranges, purples, greens, and pinks laid on a mix of buttery suede and classic canvas. The left shoe features ‘MoMa’ and the right features ‘Vans’ on the upper, with the words also printed on the heels of each shoe.
ANALYSIS:
MoMA and Vans collaborative Era sneaker is part of the former’s Limited-Edition Collection, a capsule comprising several different collaborative drops that aim to celebrate the newly expanded and reimagined Museum of Modern Art, which opens on October 21. The expanded space is home to a double-height retail flagship and other collaborators include Issey Miyake and Uniqlo.
