QUICK TAKE:
Nike takes a page from legendary designer Tinker Hatfield’s sketchbook for this Nike Air Max 1 “Tinker’s Sketch” release. This model features the sketched shading and scrawled notes by Hatfield as he designed the Air Max 1. Nike has been releasing homages to it’s classic models and unreleased originals, so these fall in line with that continued 2019 storyline.

DESIGN:
The Nike Air Max 1 “Tinker’s Sketch” features a colorway similar to the beloved University Red, but this time, the red is ‘sketched’ on. The tongues and Swooshes feature this scrawled red. Notes and other markets by Tinker are seen on the mudguards and heels, and the shoe is finished off with Tinker’s signature on the heel.

ANALYSIS:
Nike has brought back numerous models as the company continues to dig deeper into its archives in 2019. These models with colorways inspired by the lore behind them are awesome for sneakerheads who know these backstories already. This styling also plays on the Virgil Abloh ideas of ‘work-in-progress’.

RELEASE INFORMATION:
According to early leaks, this Air Max 1 “Tinker Sketch” is on target for a September 2019 drop, but be sure to check back in the coming weeks for updates.
