QUICK TAKE:
Nike takes two OG designs and flips them with the DNA Ch. 1 pack. The iconic Nike Air Max 1 and the Nike Air Huarache are featured in this release, but both don the original colorways and details of their counterpart. This may be the first of many ‘DNA’ releases, as Nike continues to find new ways to revitalize and re-release its classics in new, exciting ways. This re-hashing sees the AM1 in the Huarache’s signature “Scream Green” colorway, while the Huarache takes on the original AM1 “University Red” make-up.
DESIGN:
Beyond taking on its counterparts iconic colorway, each shoe also adopts the features of the other. The Nike Air Max 1 sports a neoprene tongue, rubber molded heel, and extra eyelets on the quarter, like the Nike Huarache traditionally has. The Nike Air Huarache boasts a Air Max 1 tongue badge, a raised mudguard, and top eyelets like a traditional AM1.
ANALYSIS:
This flip-flop is awesome for OG sneakerheads, and provides the market with two clean colorways that have never been officially released. Nike is providing some absolutely fire non-collaborative products, recently, and this set falls in lines with other pairs like the Nike Air Max 90 “Mixtape”.
RELEASE INFORMATION:
Expect both to arrive at select Nike Sportswear spots come June 14.
