Recently, photos of a COMME des GARCONS and Nike collaboration have surfaced, via Instagram user @outfitmyth. The shoes, which presumably are an adaptation of the Nike Outburst, are set to debut FW19.
Design:
With this simple collaborative piece, CdG and Nike drop traditional laces in exchange for velcro straps. The sneaker features an all-leather, triple black upper with Swoosh branding on the side and more Nike tagging on the tongue. The most exciting element of the black chain COMME des GARÇONS branding draped at the toe.
Analysis:
This newest collaboration continues to follow the ‘dad shoes’ trend of 2018, but in a new way. Although most of last year’s trend arose from styles like the Nike Monarch and YEEZY BOOST 700- which featured chunky-soled shoes with multiple layers of mesh on the upper- this is a much more slimmed-down model. The all-leather + minimal midsole could be the start of a style shift in the streetwear game.
