On Nike Air Max Day 2019, the Swoosh and its influencers, such as O’dell Beckham Jr., introduced multiple new Air Max models and collaborations. Of particular note were two collaborations with two younger entities in the footwear/fashion industry: Cactus Plant Flea Market and Heron Preston. Nike worked with CPFM to create the unique Vapormax 2019 seen above, and then linked with Heron Preston to fuse together the Nike Air Max 95/720.
Design:
Cactus Plant Flea Market x Nike VaporMax 2019: This uniquely modified model is highlighted by the teal plastic Swoosh attached over the olive green base Swoosh. The army-green shoe also features extra ‘messy’ seam reinforcement and a hiking boot-inspired lacing system with oversized rope laces. Finally, it sits on a bed of two-toned VaporMax tooling, with a classic Nike logo used on the tongue and some sort of ‘Just Do It’ design around the heel.The shoe highlights fused reinforcements as well as two-toned VaporMax tooling.
Heron Preston x Nike Air Max 95/720: Preston is a former Nike employee who has ascended rapidly in the collaborative fashion industry, thanks to connections with Virgil Abloh and a strong assortment of projects. With his Nike Air Max 95/720, he fuses the Air Max 720 and the Air Max 95, and drips a vibrant gradient of orange hues over it. Heron has used neon colors in his work regularly. Sprinkled on top of this creamsicle are numerous Nike Swooshes of varying size. Nike will also be offering customization options upon the shoe’s release.
Analysis:
Nike tapped two rising programs in the industry and gave them a good amount of freedom to create two unique models. The shoes both speak to the brand’s who collaborated with the Swoosh to birth them. Cactus Plant Flea Market uses earthy tones, unique lacing and an attached Swoosh to communicate their quirky vibe. Heron’s signature orange and futuristic styling are seen with the fusion model.

The Cactus Plant Flea Market x Nike Air VaporMax 2019 is reported to release exclusively at Dover Street Market on May 14.
Fans can expect the Heron Preston x Nike Air Max 95/720 on April 15. The shoe will also be available for customization.
