Ronnie Fieg took to Instagram on 11/13 to officially debut the first shoe of his 2018 Kith x New Balance collection. The shoe he featured is the New Balance 997S Fusion, and Fieg also hinted at two other models created in collaboration with Arrows & Sons and Nonnative, which are pictured in a second Twitter post from 11/14 (below). For Kith x New Balance 2018, I’ve designed a new collection for two of my favorite brands/retailers that are inspired by two of my favorite New Balance sneakers ever – the United Arrows & Sons 997.5 and the nonnative 997.5. Using those as our inspiration we’ve designed 6 new models, all on the 997 silhouette. This is the 997S Fusion in the Kith x nonnative colorway. The Fusion combines a Made in USA upper with NB’s new Sport tooling. With this release I want to give back to those who have been riding for the brand. That’s why we’re hosting a competition where 12 winners will be gifted 1 of the Fusion colorways from the collection. To enter, post a picture of any of my past 12 collaborations with New Balance in the same style as this picture and tag @kithfootwear. I will be picking my favorite of the photos personally. If you need a refresher on my past NB collabs we’ve made a webpage showing the timeline. Link in bio. Excited for people to get their hands on these. Kith x UA&Sons x nonnative x New Balance up next.
In Fieg’s post on 11/14, he highlights the classic NB997 models that will be featured in the 2018 Kith x Nonnative x United Arrows & Sons Ronnie Fieg’s iconic collaborations with brands like New Balance and Asics catalyzed his growth into the mogul status he has in the streetwear community today- not to mention setting an industry standard for quality. As Kith has grown, Fieg has reinvested the profits into the Kith empire and continued to land unique collaborative partners. This culminated in Fieg most recently presenting collaborations with Tommy Hilfiger and Versace at his massive ‘Kith Park’ fashion show.
This recent announcement sees Fieg return to his roots of utilizing lesser known runner silhouettes and combining them with incredibly rich materials and colorways. Fieg also highlights his brand’s commitment to supporting those that support them. Kith collaborated with Nonnative and United Arrows & Sons on the 6 new pieces- all of which he says pay homage to two original New Balance collabs with the brands respectively. He also reiterates the reinstatement of the Kith Loyalty program, to give advantage to loyal purchasers of past Kith x NB designs.
Although information is still minimal, there’s nothing but excitement for this collection. Already Fieg has shown us the new Fusion model, can’t wait to see what else is in store. Let us know your thoughts below in the comments.
